A&E’s Wahlburgers – Family, Food & Heart

I recently tuned in to Wahlburgers on A&E for the first time.  I wasn’t sure what to expect.  Mark Wahlberg has a pretty spectacular track record when it comes to show development; he’s behind Entourage, In Treatment, and Boardwalk Empire.  So, I expected a show of a certain caliber.

I was pleasantly surprised.  The Wahlbergs are like any other American family.  Except, two of the sons are entertainment heavy weights.  Viewers get a behind the scenes look into their family, including an awkward, but cute, introduction of Jenny McCarthy to Donnie’s mom.  I loved that they may be financially well off now, but they come from humble beginnings. My favorite moment is when Donnie talks about the joy of English muffin pizzas made with welfare cheese.  When I was a kid, my grandmother received a subsidy of government cheese – it was a real thing – and it was so good.  That cheese made the best mac-n-cheese ever!

If you’re looking for a light, heartwarming family show, you should check out the Wahlburgers.  Here’s a sneak peak at tomorrow’s episode.

Wahlburgers airs on A&E on Wednesday, March 5 at 10:30pm ET/PT.
