In the new world of pervasive social media, selfies and TMI, it’s unsurprising that people have become really comfortable talking about formerly embarrassing topics. Myx TV has a new docu-series, “I’m Asian American and…” which explores many of the social issues that people encounter when they do not fit within the Asian American stereotype. In “I’m Asian American and…I’m a Dating Coach for Virgins,” DJ Fuji sets out to help Ben Yip, who was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma at age 23, in his quest to lose his virginity. The series is equally awkward and poignant in its discussion of what makes people individuals and what common experiences can unite them.
