Pharrell Williams is stepping in to fill the void left by departing coach CeeLo Green on NBC’s The Voice. Pharrell previously appeared on the show as an advisor for Team Usher and has an impressive pedigree in the music world. He’s currently dominating the radio in every carpooling minivan with his song from Despicable Me, “Happy,” and collaborated with Daft Punk on last summer’s hit “Get Lucky.
Executive producer Mark Burnett says of the shake up, “I am thrilled to have Pharrell come back to ‘The Voice’ family, and this time … as a coach. Continuing in ‘The Voice’ tradition of having the biggest and most current music stars as coaches, Pharrell fits perfectly.”
The rest of the line up has not been confirmed and you have to wonder if Christina Aguilera will be taking a break as she reportedly will give birth to a baby girl later this year. That would leave another chair open. To see some real sparks fly, The Voice may want to consider offering any open spot to Miranda Lambert.
