Could there possibly be something to fill the void left by Battlestar Galactica? Let’s keep our fingers crossed. Syfy has given the green light to The Expanse, which it described as “a thriller set two hundred years in the future.” The premise sounds reminiscent of Firefly, which is not a bad thing. “The Expanse follows the case of a missing young woman who brings a hardened detective and a rogue ship’s captain together in a race across the solar system to expose the greatest conspiracy in human history.”
After losing many of its science fiction shows, Syfy is now expanding its roster with new shows that harken back to its namesake genre, such as Ascension, 12 Monkeys, Helix, Dominion, and Defiance. There’s no premiere date yet for The Expanse, but hopefully it’s sometime soon.
